bou•doirPronunciation: ‘bü-, dwär So, what is boudoir photography exactly?Boudoir photography is a sexy new trend that’s especially popular as a wedding day gift from a bride to her groom. Boudoir photos are usually taken wearing either just a little, or well, nothing at all. It’s completely up to you and your comfort level. They’re hardly X-rated though, rather PG-13 or R... as in classic pinup-inspired pictures, or what we pros call implied nudes. That means you’re not wearing anything, or very little, but you’re also not showing off anything either. Again, it’s all up to you. The idea is to have fun and capture the pictures that capture your heart. Trust me, if boudoir photography is for you, you will look fondly on these images for the rest of your life. Many brides and non-brides alike have booked me for their boudoir photography and I have embraced this trend. Many brides like to have the best of their boudoir photos bound in a mini album just for their hubby -- "For His Eyes Only" as a wedding day gift. These images are taken in your home, my studio, or a private location of your choice. I strive to make my clients very comfortable and relaxed during this special session. The finished results are a sensual and tasteful collection of photographs that are sure to make you feel great about yourself now and for years to come! Preparing for the photo session gives you the opportunity to indulge yourself! Bring a selection of outfits to reflect the different moods you’d like to capture, from demure to playful to seductive. But most of all bring your inner self...my primary focus is to bring out the beauty that a woman carries within her and I have an amazing gift for getting in touch with that quality and capturing your essence in the images! When should I schedule the session? If you’re spending time and money on an exercise and primping routine, you may want to wait until a few weeks or so before the wedding to show off the results. Plus, a fun and pampering photo shoot is a good way to indulge and take some time out from wedding planning. However, in order to have an album made in time to give to your groom on your wedding day, or have prints made, your session should be scheduled six weeks prior to your wedding date. For brides inclined to arrange for the session on the morning of their wedding, resist the urge. For one, you’re not likely to feel very sultry if the rain clouds looming over your outdoor ceremony site are the first thing on your mind. Second, do you really want your future mother-in-law walking in on you while you’re posing in just your veil? Stick with a separate session so you’ll have time to really feel comfortable and get some great shots. How long does it take?Your boudoir photo session will probably last about ninety minutes to two hours. What does it cost?$200 - at location of your choice or $150 at my studio – We can shoot at your own home or a borrowed home is another option. Another popular site is a posh hotel room. I have access to one of the finest penthouse suites in town. If you would like to discuss this option in greater detail, please contact me at ay time. What should I wear? The most important thing is to choose outfits that make you feel sexy. Incorporating something of your fiancé’s such as one of his shirts or something else that means a lot to him like a sports jersey is also a great idea. Your wedding lingerie, jewelry and veil will also make for beautiful pictures. A good rule of thumb: Bring something white, something black, and something in a bright color so you can mix and match. A corset will create sexy curves. In addition to lingerie, don’t forget shoes, jewelry, and that engagement ring. Should I bring anyone along?Though you don’t want to turn your session into a three-ring circus, some brides feel more comfortable bringing a friend. Why? Some feel more at ease if you can make a few jokes with a pal, plus she may be able to help with suggestions. However, an equal number of brides feel that after their initial natural nervousness is over, they wish they had not brought anyone with them. The choice is yours and should be based on whatever you think will make your boudoir portrait session the best it can possibly be. Another idea: Bring a bottle of bubbly. A little champagne may help loosen things up. You’ll be posing like a pro in no time -- but of course, this is a one-time-only exclusive for a very special audience (your very lucky groom). Great boudoir pictures capture the heart. Let me capture yours. To schedule your boudoir portrait session, or to discuss it in greater detail, please contact me at any time.
